We thank everyone who attended, contributed to, and supported the Masters of Acoustic Guitar Benefit Concert October 3.
Tickets sales, contrbutions, and donations totaled over $3000 for the North Olmsted Schools' Guitar Program.
In February of 2009, Brian Henke visited Chestnut School in North Olmsted as part of the Skyline Music Visiting Artists' Program. He had a great time with the kids, but noticed that the school instruments really needed help. He came to us and offered to host a benefit concert so the school could afford more and better guitars--and to maintain the existing ones. He recruited the other players, while Skyline Music organized the event and provided publicity, web presence, and liason between the school, suppliers, and the artists. North Olmsted teacher Christine Birney--who arranged Brian's original visit--was the primary contact at the school.
The three performers all took the stage together, and alternated numbers in "round robin" rotation. We also took time to let both the school and the audience see the donations from our generous suppliers within the music products industry: books from Hal Leonard Publications, strings from D'Addario, and guitars from Samick.

The Donations:
120 copies of the Hal Leonard Guitar Method, enough for every student in all three buildings.
Enough sets of D'Addario strings to restring all the existing North Omsted instruments.
Six guitars from the Greg Bennett Designs division of Samick Music--including a special model for teacher Chrs Birney, to jump-start expansion.
OPENING ACT:
Chris Birney introduces her guitar students from Chestnut. They opened the concert with two numbers.
THE ARTISTS:
The "round robin" format showcased the tremendous stylisitic variety of the three players.
